Making a difference
Penny's story
For reasons of confidentiality some personal details of the stories have been changed or combined.
One of the first clients to use our Business Esteem Programme was Penny. In fact she helped us to further develop the programme. Penny has a passion for road safety. She had driven many miles as a sales rep and had seen some dreadful accidents. When she returned to business after raising her family she wanted to make a personal contribution to road safety.
When Penny was introduced to us she had been in business for several years but did not feel she was making any progress. Her major aim was to change the attitudes of large corporations to road safety. Her business was surviving but she was not making any major impact. She had no corporate clients, and she was so involved IN the business that she could not take a holiday or even get a good night's sleep. In our language, the business was in control of her rather than the other way round and Penny was coming close to doing what over 80% of small businesses do, closing down and walking away.
Working with McKenna Smith Wessex Penny was able to re-discover her passion for road safety and create a business which is now really making a difference. She has large corporate clients and a fully engaged staff capable of running the business in her absence so that she has been able to take a six week break. Penny's business has also recently won a regional "Business of the Year" award. She has come a long way since those sleepless nights of two years ago.
If you run a business which employs people who drive and you would like to do your best for their safety, or you would simply like to chat to one of our clients, we would be happy to arrange an introduction to Penny.
